Contractor day-rate calculator
Turn your day rate into annual income, then compare PAYE or a simple limited-company salary-and-dividend calculation.
Before you start: Check your tax status separately. For PAYE, enter the employee gross day rate; use the umbrella tool for an assignment rate. The company example uses England 2026/27 rates, one director/shareholder, a full year and no associated companies. It pays all profit after tax as dividends. It excludes Employment Allowance, pensions, loans, other income, other reliefs, retained profit, VAT and payment dates. Employer NI is 15% above £5,000.
